Taking a number’s 1/10 means dividing that number by 10. Therefore when you are asked to find the number that was applied the 1/10 to produce 90, you simply multiply 90 with 10. Thus the answer is 900.

If 90 is 1/10
10/10 must be 90×10
=900
so 90 is 1/10 of 900

Translating to an equation 90 = (1/10)X
solve for X.

You must always do the same thing to both sides of an equation to keep the equation TRUE.

You want your solution to look like X = <some number>

Right now X has a term (1/10) multiplied by it. getting rid of that term will make that side X, which is what you want. So, you need to “get rid” of the 1/10. Since it is a multiplier of X, the only way to “get rid” of it is to multiply it by 10.
Why? Because 10* (1/10) = 1 and 1*X = X
so that is getting rid of the multiplier term.

So, here we go:
90 = (1/10)X
multiply both sides by 10
10*90 = 10*(1/10)*X
simplify
900 = 1*X = X
and you are done. X = 900

90=x/10 multiply both sides by 10
x=900

solution : 1/10 *x =90
or , x =90*10
therefore X =9000.

the question is somewhat unclear but if i read it right
90/900 will = 1/10

Can you show me how to solve 60,000 is 10 times as much as

… 900? *looks at the other answers* HELL YEAH! I knew I wasn’t that stupid :). And I didn’t even need a calculator :D.
