**How to calculate VAT**

In order to **calculate the elimination of** VAT from gross total, the formula is as follows: To calculate VAT using the gross amount, divide the gross amount by 1 + VAT percentage (i.e. if it is 15%, then divide by 1.15), then deduct the gross amount, multiply by -1, and round to the nearest figure (including Eurocents).

The final two processes are not **required because you can view the VAT** figure before you conduct them.

Adding VAT to the net sum:.

It’s no problem at all.

For example, if VAT is 15%, multiply the net amount by 1.15 if you want to know the gross amount. In this case, multiply by the VAT rate to determine the tax amount.
