How much did Jesus weigh?

Updated on August 6, 2022

I got in this huge argument with my buddy over this. He says Jesus was like the fattest guy in Bethlehem because everyone gave him food all the time because he was the Son of God. According to my friend, there was a point where Jesus had to be carried around by some people.

I said that’s ridiculous because they didn’t really have food back then.

There must be a historical record of this since, well, he was the most famous guy in history.

Does the Bible say how heavy Jesus was? Or are there cave drawings?

  • 142 lbs.

  • Interestingly, there is no physical description of Jesus whatsoever, as if the writers of the gospel deliberate attempted to make him non-human as possible. We do have descriptions of other famous spiritual people, and of course of historical figures alive at the time of Jesus, but nothing about Jesus.

This might suggest that he was made up, out of a combination of teachers alive at the time.

  • Jesus was a Jewish carpenter and of the lower end of the pay scale though not poor, but not wealthy either. He was probably a medium build close to the average height of men his day would place him at 5 foot 8 to 10 inches 150 to 170 pounds very muscular, lean build. He practiced fasting regularly and often which causes the physical body to take on better tone and stronger physical abilities in stressful situations. Yet he learned obedience by the things he endured and he was tested unto all points as we are yet was without sin.

  • He got a lot of exercise, so he was a very muscular 180 lbs. or so, and about 5 10. He was not at all freaky like a body builder, though.

  • 98 lbs soaking wet, but since he just kind of bounced across water and it never really stuck to him, he weighed only approx. 96 1/2 lbs.

  • He must of weighed the same mass of helium, being all drunk and walking on water and stuff.

    Oh, Jesus!

  • I’m no pro on the subject but if I had to guess; 3 pounds

  • Jesus’ weight must have been enormous…..especially when bearing the sin of the World. rvc
