If the size of a lens is reduced, what happens to the magnification produced by the lens?

a) increased

b) decreased

c) doesn’t change

  • This happens all the time when you use a camera. You focus the lens and compose the picture with the F – stop aperture wide open – the lens is big,

    When you take the photo the aperture closes down – the lens is smaller -.

    But the size of the image does not change. Choice C.

  • Magnification depends upon the focal length of the lens, not on the size. So the magnification does not change. Option c.

  • “Size of a lens” is a very imprecise term.

    Are you talking about it’s mass, it’s girth, it’s radius of curvature or what?

    As stated, the answer is “C” — doesn’t change.
